How Safaris Are Priced

Why it costs what it costs—and where your money really goes

Planning a safari is thrilling—but let’s be honest, it can also raise some big questions, especially around cost.

At Winrica, we believe you deserve a clear answer. So instead of hiding behind “package deals,” we’re showing you exactly how safaris are priced—per day, per person, and per group.

This isn’t just about math—it’s about conservation, community, and care.

What You’re Paying For

When you book a safari with Winrica, you're not just paying for game drives or a place to sleep—you're supporting an entire ecosystem of people, wildlife, and meaningful connection.

Here’s what’s included in your safari investment:

National Park Fees – These are mandatory fees paid to conservation authorities like TANAPA and NCAA, which help protect endangered species, maintain park infrastructure, and support anti-poaching programs.

Conservation and Camping Fees – These daily fees are required for staying inside national parks and directly support the preservation of natural habitats, wildlife corridors, and ranger services.

Lodging – You’ll stay in mid-range tented camps or lodges that include all meals. These are often family-run, eco-friendly accommodations located close to the action in each park.

Safari Vehicle and Guide – A custom 4x4 safari Land Cruiser and a certified professional guide are with you throughout your journey. This includes fuel, maintenance, and the experience of someone who knows the land, wildlife behavior, and how to keep you safe.

Vehicle Entry Fees – These are additional costs paid to allow your safari vehicle to enter each national park and conservation area.

Admin and Planning Support – Behind the scenes, our team handles all logistics: park permits, accommodation bookings, cultural experiences, emergency planning, and on-call support throughout your trip.

Community Partnerships – Visits to Maasai, Chaga, or other local villages are always compensated fairly. We believe in honoring our hosts and investing in their communities—not just observing from the outside.

Sustainable Margin – Our 25% profit margin isn’t just for business growth. It allows us to pay guides fairly, build long-term relationships with local partners, invest in training, and continue operating as an ethical, community-first travel company.

What It Costs (Real Examples)

Here’s a sample breakdown of daily per-person costs on a 5-day safari with mid-range tented camps, assuming 3 guests traveling together:

Here’s a sample breakdown of what you might expect to pay on a 5-day safari with mid-range tented camps, assuming 3 guests traveling together:

  • National park fees range between $60 and $70 per person, per day.

  • Camping and conservation fees add around $12–$15 per day.

  • Lodging at mid-range tented camps is typically $175 per person, per night and includes all meals.

  • The safari vehicle and professional guide cost $250 per day, shared between guests. In this case, that’s about $83 per person, per day.

  • Vehicle entry fees for the parks come to around $30 per day, split between the group—about $10 per person, per day.

  • Admin and behind-the-scenes logistics (like bookings, emergency support, and itinerary coordination) cost around $30 per day per person.

  • A one-time cultural contribution to our partner communities is typically $50 per person (or about $10/day spread over 5 days).

This brings the base cost to around $375–$400 per person, per day before profit.

We then apply a standard 25% profit margin (to support fair wages, community investment, and business sustainability), which adds about $93–$100 per day.

So your final safari cost per person per day comes to approximately $470–$500—all inclusive.

So, the more people you travel with, the more those shared costs drop.
For example, a solo traveler pays $250/day for the vehicle. In a group of 4, it’s just $62.50/day per person.
