Honeymoon Package Itinerary: 5 days/6 nights

This package is for our special couples honeymoon. This tentative itinerary is the basic package for 5 days/6 nights on mainland Tanzania and pricing. We would love to work with you to customize this to accommodate anything you desire while celebrating your love in Tanzania, including but not limited to, adding a tropical Zanzibar Island escape or any other adventure that we offer to this excursion. After planning your custom itinerary, price will be adjusted accordingly.

Tentative Basic Itinerary:

Day 1

Arrival Day: Kilimanjaro International Airport to Moshi

Once you arrive at the Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and make your way through customs, you will be greeted by your transfer team, and transferred to your overnight accommodations at the Chanya Lodge in Moshi, where you can take a hot shower and get a good night's rest before your adventure begins.

Day 2

Moshi to Arusha National Park - Day Trip

Enjoy a beautiful walking safari and game drive in Arusha National Park, the base of Mt. Meru, ending your tour at a majestic waterfall. This day trip is an opportunity to see some of Tanzania’s wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, buffalos, baboons and impalas.

This tour is a great way to get a wonderful view of the base of Mount Meru, located inside of Arusha National Park and all it has to offer. It combines a walking safari and jeep game drive. Once you arrive, you’ll stretch your legs on an out-of-this-world walking safari, accompanied by a ranger who will guide you through rainforest up to a sparkling waterfall where you’ll be able to spot black and white colobus monkeys going about their day. After a tasty lunch you’ll hop in your safari vehicle for a game drive that will take you through a wider scope of the park, including the Lakes of Momella and the Ngurduto Crater, also known as "Little Ngorongoro" Crater. You will most likely spot buffalo, waterbuck, giraffe, warthogs, zebra and gazelle as well as a host of different bird species. If you’re lucky you’ll catch a glimpse of the shy leopard or elephant. After the drive, you’ll be driven back to your accommodation at the Chanya Lodge in Moshi.

Day 3

Rundugai Cultural Tour: After breakfast, you will be picked up by your guide around 8-8:30 am and transported to the Maasai Village where you will get the chance to experience the daily life of this extraordinary tribe. Learn and take part in the Maasai way of life: livestock keeping, cattle herding, milking cows and goats, water fetching with donkeys and participating in their traditional dance. You will also get time for a Q&A where you will ask the tribe any questions you may have. Afterwards, you will be met by the local mama’s and experience the delight of a warm authentic African lunch. Your next stop is the Kikuletwa Hot Springs (aka Chemka HotSprings), to discover the beautiful swimming oasis of warm crystal clear water. This natural pool, which is surrounded by the impressive roots of fig trees and palm trees, will make you feel like you have entered a tropical paradise. Take a leap with the swinging rope or just relax in a floating tube. After a day well spent, you will be transported back to your sleeping accomodations at the Chanya Lodge.

Day 4

Materuni Waterfalls/ Coffee Plantation Tour

Materuni is the home of the Chagga Tribe and is still an active authentic tribal village. This charming place is the last village before reaching Kilimanjaro National Park.
You will be picked up in the morning from your hotel, by our English speaking guide, who will drive you to Materuni Village. Once you arrive, you will register at the village office and your trip will begin.

First, you will visit the waterfalls which will require about a 40-minute walk. During your walk, your guide will educate you on the culture of the Chagga Tribe and village life, as well as, explain the different flora and fauna. You may even be able to see the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro if the skies are clear. When you reach the waterfalls, you will see that they are very tall and indescribably beautiful. You will also have a chance to swim in the pool at the bottom of the falls, so do not forget your bathing suit!

After the falls, you will be guided back to Materuni Village for a traditional Chagga lunch and also have the opportunity to taste our local banana beer!

Next you will learn how coffee is cultivated, dried, roasted and further processed. You will also be invited to help with the grinding of the coffee, which traditionally is accompanied with Chagga songs and dances. Before saying goodbye, you will even be able to try the coffee you made and enjoy the views of the surrounding rain forest.

After the coffee tour, in the late afternoon (just before sunset) you will be picked up and return back to your hotel.

Day 5

Spa Day at Chanya Lodge

Your last day in Tanzania is meant for relaxation and just enjoying being together. It will include private romantic breakfast and you will get a one hour complimentary couple’s massage by one of the Chanya Lodges’ Massage Therapists onsite. On this day you are free to swim in the pool, relax in one of the gardens or just be together in your room. You will also have a choice of different add-on options. Including private lunch & dinner at Chanya Lodge or to have one of our guides take you to a local restaurant of choice in Moshi. This will add a small additional cost to final pricing.

Also available are different add-on options for Spa Day, that add to original basic honeymoon package pricing including:

• One hour couples’ yoga session
• Fruit Hamper Basket delivered in your room
• Congratulatory Champagne/Wine (Local) basket in your room
• Live Music Band performance during private dinner at Chanya Lodge

• Cultural Dance Performance during private dinner at Chanya Lodge.

Day 6

Departure Day: Moshi to Kilimanjaro International Airport

Today you will be transported to the Kilimanjaro International Airport by our transfer team, according to your flight itinerary.

Any safari, trekking adventure, cultural day trip or Zanzibar Island Tours can be added to customize itineraries. We can even extend or shorten this basic itinerary.
